Message from the Honourary Chair

Danny Dichio When I was asked to be this year’s Honourary Chair of the Community World Cup, it was a very easy decision to make. I attended the event last year and had a chance to meet some of the kids that were supported by it, and welcomed the opportunity to play a larger role this year.

The proceeds from this year’s Community World Cup will support both a local organization, the Toronto Police Force’s FOR K.I.C.K.S program and an international organization, Street kids International. Both organizations play a vital role in the development of children in high-risk and under serviced areas.

This year’s event also recognizes the late Brian Budd through the Brian Budd PAL award and a celebrity game. Brian was an excellent ambassador for soccer and a great advocate for children. The Community World Cup team thinks that this is a great way honour his memory.

During the event, I will be running a children’s soccer clinic with the FOR K.I.C.K.S team and look forward to meeting a lot of you there. It should be a great day.

I’ll see you on the field!
